Carpentry is a skilled trade and the work of carpenters involve the cutting, shaping and installation of building materials during the construction of buildings, ships, timber bridges, etc. The finer trades of cabinet making and furniture building are also considered carpentry. Carpenters can learn their trade by apprenticeship training or by gaining work experience. Carpenters require training which involves both acquiring knowledge and physical practice. Tasks performed by carpenters include installing flooring, windows, doors, interior trim, cabinetry, roofing, framing, siding, flooring and wall partitions.
