A gardener is generally any person involved in gardening. While the garden designer designs the garden and provides direction and supervision, the gardener is the the person who will undertake the work to produce the desired outcome. The gardener is the person who has the skill to maintain the garden’s design. A gardener’s work includes planting flowers and other plants, weeding, pruning, grafting, removal of dead flowers and tending garden compost.

They are also responsible for planting the city’s many green trees, making Johannesburg one of the ‘greenest’ cities in the world. There has been an estimated six million trees in the city with the number growing every year. Johannesburg is home to the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens, a popular recreational park.
